are you red-y?

I always wanted to be a red lipstick person, but I still take my time, like every make up trend needs time to embrace it and make it your own. Every time you wear a bold lipstick, you make a statement they say and since I have no idea what my statement is, I usually stay away from reds. Either way, I want to give it a try and find the perfect shade, especially for the wintertime/holiday season. I don't know if I have found the right undertones for my skin tone yet, but I can tell by now that I prefer deep reds the most. I feel more comfortable in a vampy red shade, cool toned, than in a bright 'on your face' red lip.

The Radiant Softline Lip Pencil in No 12 Dark Red has everything I seek, it's creamy and easy to apply without dragging my lips, deep red, matte and long lasting. I use it alone or to line my lips before applying any other lipstick on top, because I feel that bold lips require a more defined shape. It doesn't have to be sharp though, but a feathering result isn't the best! I also like to use it to contour my lips on the outer edges, when using a lighter red lipstick. This trick will give you the illusion of fuller lips!

The e.l.f. Studio Matte Lip Colour in Rich Red is a lipstick in pencil form, again so creamy but matte. Actually, it's two products in one, suitable for lining and filling. It turned out to be brighter than I expected it to, but it became one of my favourites!

The YSL Rouge Pur Couture in No 1 Blood Red came as a sample in a greek magazine, so I had the chance to try it out. It's the only non matte and brighter red I own. It's long lasting and it turns more matte in a way during the day, but it definitely needs a lip liner underneath!

The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in No 8 Grand Cru is a creamy gloss that turns into matte after applying. It's velvety, vampy red and stays on literally all day! Just keep in mind that it's better to use a lip balm underneath.

Are you brave enough to wear a red lipstick for every day or just in special occasions?
