skin vs make up

Sometimes I believe that a clear, blemish-free skin is a blessing and if you already own it, that's wonderful! But I'm on the other side of the road, waving at you... When I was younger, I felt awful with my acne prone skin, but if I think now how things were then, I realise that I was still lucky, my skin condition wasn't bad at all. I was looking at all those amazing velvety skins of models in magazines and I hadn't heard anything about the filters, that make all the difference. Overall, I was so unhappy with my skin, I was wearing foundation to cover it and I was feeling even more unhappy with my make up too. It was a fact that I was using wrong products in the wrong way, but apart from that, the problem was deeper.

The past months my skin is at its best because of my skincare routine and mostly because I'm finally accepting my skin type, I 'hear' what it has to say, what it needs and respond kindly. I understand more than ever that good skincare is the key, make up is an accessory. If you love your skin, you will love your make up too. You won't try to hide it behind a mask, but you will enhance your natural features that make you unique. Apart from that, if you are dealing with acne, you know that it's not very easy to feel beautiful and this is the problem's root. Even though any dermatologist can explain how acne comes to surface, I do believe that we are the ones who create our reality and our thoughts become actions and then our future. It's totally understandable that my words may not make any sense to some of you, but if you think about it a little bit more, you may see a truth hidden and this could be life changing! Just ask yourself if you really love YOU, with or without make up, every single day, whatever its condition. If the answer is no, then you know what I'm trying to say!

Some years ago, I was using so much powder... I don't even have an answer for that. Thank god, the trend of the moment changed everything. Sheer foundation, dewy, glowy skin. But to get there, you have to love it first, take good care of it, let it breathe and be in general. I love make up, that won't change. But I love it as an extra hint to my being, not as a fake mask anymore.

Love yourself to love you back.
